The Great Sport Watch Quest: Introducing the Series

From Garmin flagships to Coros and Suunto, I went through a massive gadget loop to find the perfect triathlon watch. Welcome to the #gadgets series: real reviews and honest verdicts.

Welcome to a new chapter on my blog!

If you’ve been following my journey, you know that preparing for a triathlon and recovering after an injury requires discipline, consistency, and the right gear. But if I’m being completely honest, it also triggered a massive, borderline obsessive quest for the absolute perfect sports watch.

Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED (47mm) and accessories

Over the past few years—and especially the last few months—I found myself trapped in the ultimate "gadget loop." I didn't just read reviews; I bought, tested, compared, doubted, and lived with almost every major flagship on the market. From Garmin’s legendary Fenix and Enduro series to the lightweight Forerunner, and from the bold new Coros ecosystems to the elegant Suunto lines.

I’ve experienced the pure dopamine hit of unboxing a brand-new device, the frustration of buying the wrong gear in a physical store with no return policy, the battle between vibrant AMOLED screens and sunset-loving MIP Solar displays, and the struggle of fitting a 51mm "tank" under a casual dress shirt sleeve.

Now, the dust has finally settled. I have found my ultimate daily driver, and it’s time to share everything I learned along the way.

What is the #Gadgets Series?

Starting this week, I am launching a comprehensive collection of individual, deep-dive reviews under the #gadgets tag. I want to move away from generic specs and focus on real, raw, personal experience.

Coros Apex 4 46mm vs. Garmin Forerunner 970

For each model that crossed my desk, I will publish a dedicated, compact article breaking down:

  • The Unboxing & Aesthetics: First tactile impressions, materials (titanium vs. polymer), and build quality.
  • Ergonomics & Style: How the watch behaves in the gym, on a long bike ride, and in everyday life (the "bus test" and the "shirt cuff test").
  • Screen & Battery Reality: AMOLED vs. MIP, and whether those extra days of battery life are worth the compromise.
  • The Companion App & Ecosystem: Data analysis, sensor accuracy, and how well the software actually guides your training and recovery.
  • The Honest Verdict: The undeniable pros, the annoying cons, and whether the watch has that intangible "soul."

Whether you are training for an Ironman, planning a multi-day adventure race, or you’re just a fellow tech-geek looking for your next upgrade without making expensive mistakes—this series is for you.

Here is just a small teaser of the battlefield so far:

Finding the perfect balance between a hardcore training tool and a premium lifestyle accessory is a wild ride. I made the mistakes so you don't have to.

Stay tuned!
