From Zero to Hero: 4 Months of Recovery
Hey friends! 👋
Today is a very symbolic date for me. It’s been exactly 4 months since my surgery, where my leg was put back together—and honestly, even "upgraded" with a bit of titanium! 🦾
The last 4 months have been a journey: one month of almost zero movement, two months of limited mobility (when even getting off the couch was a challenge), and two weeks of intense rehabilitation with the docs.
What were the doctors' predictions? They said I’d be walking with a cane in 3-4 months, ditching the cane by month 5, starting to run by month 8, and seeing a full recovery only after a year.
But I had a different plan. And how could I not? 😉
Before the injury, I was deep into CrossFit. I’ve been training since 2016, and since last fall, I’ve been back to a solid 3x/week schedule. In December 2025, I finally ran my first 5km! It was pure joy. And then, January came—the fracture and a total stop. But I’ve been dreaming of Triathlons and Ironman since 2015, and I wasn't about to let that dream go.
While I was immobilized, I didn't just wait. I studied rehab methods, physical therapy, and thousands of stories from people who walked this path before me. I spent countless nights on YouTube and Instagram, researching the exact gear and tech I’d use once I was back on my feet. That research was my fuel!
So, 4 months later, here is the "Recovery Squad" I’ve chosen (swipe to see the gear!):
- (Virtual) Coach: Gemini. My AI companion since January—giving advice and keeping me on track. The results speak for themselves!
- Training & Prep: Garmin Coach for running, strength, and triathlon prep.
- The Tech: Garmin Fenix 8 Sapphire Solar (47mm). Took a long time to choose, but this is a long-term partner for my wrist! ⌚️
- The Shoes: HOKA Arahi 6. I tried on half the store, and these are just perfect for stability and comfort. 👟
- Apparel: 4F.
- Daily Essentials: Planner 5D (Keeping me focused on "designing better spaces"—and a better version of myself!) ☕️

The most important part? 4 months after "hitting zero," I can finally say:
- I can walk.
- I can train.
- I can run and start planning for 5k, 10k, and eventually that half-marathon.
- I can dream again and prepare for my Ironman. It will happen! 🏊♂️🚴♂️🏃♂️
Thank you all for the support. Stay healthy, stay strong, and keep moving!
